Remote Senior Manager, Retail Partnerships at Toast

The Business Development team at Toast is at the forefront of shaping and implementing the company’s partnership strategy. This involves collaborating with product and sales teams to craft strategies, identify potential partnerships, negotiate contracts, and foster relationships both internally and externally. The team also oversees the execution and growth of partnerships across various functions.

We are seeking a Sr. Manager of Retail Partnerships to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in expanding our partnership portfolio within the Retail vertical, including grocery stores, convenience stores, and bottle shops. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and managing external relationships, driving cross-functional initiatives, and thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You should also excel at structuring solutions to complex, ambiguous challenges.

  • Develop and execute business development strategies and tactics, with a focus on retail partnerships.
  • Conduct market analysis to assess the current and future retail partnership landscape for Toast.
  • Collaborate with retail product, marketing, sales, and other teams to identify and engage potential retail partners to drive growth.
  • Create compelling business cases to prioritize partnerships.
  • Lead external partner discussions and manage the commercialization process in collaboration with finance, legal, product, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Monitor and report on partnership progress using data-driven insights.
  • Work with partners and product marketing teams to deliver strategic product training and collateral during launches and updates.
Do you have the right *ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • 5-10 years of experience in partnerships, business development, SaaS technology, or management consulting.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and negotiate deals, ranging from mid-size opportunities to large, complex partnerships.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate opportunities from strategic, financial, and operational perspectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, self-directed environment.
