Patent Bots is a SaaS company dedicated to automating tasks for patent attorneys. Founded by a patent attorney and software developer, we are a profitable, bootstrapped company seeking a product-focused, well-rounded software developer to help us expand our innovative tools.
Our customers love us for our emphasis on product usability, and we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for creating user-friendly products that delight end users.
What does "well-rounded" mean to us?
- Technical expertise: You write clean, well-documented code, excel at testing, and are comfortable with concepts like mocking.
- Product focus: You’re always thinking about how to best meet user needs. While you don’t need to be a UX/UI expert, you care about the user experience.
- Security awareness: You understand the importance of following best practices when handling confidential customer information.
- Cloud knowledge: You have a solid understanding of cloud tools and their limitations, even if you’re not a dev ops specialist.
Our tech stack includes PaaS platforms like App Engine and ElasticBeanstalk, with a backend primarily built in Python/Flask. We use JavaScript/jQuery for enhancing user experience and our Word add-in, though we’re open to modernizing our frontend in the future.
Our products leverage AI, machine learning, and natural language processing. While experience in these areas isn’t required, there are ample opportunities to learn and grow if you’re interested.
Our goal is for you to grow into a leadership role, guiding our software development efforts under the CEO’s direction. The CEO, a patent attorney, is deeply involved in our products, which focus on automating tasks for patent attorneys.
Who You Are
- A product-focused developer who thrives on building tools that users love.
- You prioritize writing high-quality code, complete with documentation and tests.
- An expert in Python with 5+ years of experience, proficient in Flask, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML/CSS, and mocking.
- Security-conscious, with a strong understanding of best practices for handling sensitive data.
- Cloud-savvy, with experience deploying apps on Google Cloud or AWS.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, and capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
- Eager to grow into a leadership role, overseeing software development under the CEO’s guidance.
