Senior Data Engineer (Python + Remote) at Soda Data
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Python) to enhance and grow our Open Source and Cloud Products. You will collaborate with senior product leaders, including the CTO, and a skilled team of Data, Backend, Frontend, and full-stack engineers. Your role will involve leading the implementation of key features in Soda Core and Soda Cloud, focusing on Data Observability and Data Testing solutions. Additionally, you will share your expertise in Data Engineering with the broader engineering team.
As our company expands, we anticipate that you will grow alongside us. We envision the right candidate evolving into an Engineering Lead or a similar leadership role over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with users, customers, and the team to shape product direction and implement new features in Soda Cloud and Soda Core that address real-world data engineering challenges.
- Focus on scaling Soda Cloud to handle billions of datasets.
- Contribute directly to our open-source library by designing, building, and maintaining new Observability and Data Testing features.
- Develop internal tools to streamline product development processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building data/ML products or cloud-based software.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles and design patterns.
- Advanced proficiency in Python Data Stack and SQL.
- In-depth knowledge of data warehouses, data lakes, pipeline testing, data mesh, and related data engineering concepts.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new concepts and technologies.
- Proactive, independent, and confident in proposing new ideas while standing firm on your convictions.
- Based in Europe and eligible to work in the region.
- Strong passion for Data Quality, Data Observability, and Machine Learning.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience working on Data Quality solutions or products tailored for Data Engineers.
- Familiarity with common data warehousing platforms.
- Basic knowledge of the Python Data Science stack, including Scikit Learn.
- Experience with GitOps practices.
- A STEM degree from a top-tier university.
