Senior Accountant (DHS) at Federal Management Systems
Opportunity with DHS – Seeking Expert Accounting Professionals (US Citizens Only)
Key Qualifications:
- Expertise in federal financial statement preparation, technical accounting, and general ledger analysis.
- Proficiency in interpreting and drafting financial management policies and procedural documents.
- Knowledge of federal property accounting, including capitalization and depreciation.
- Familiarity with budgetary accounting principles.
- Experience reconciling intragovernmental transactions (IPACs, trading partner activities, advances).
- Ability to apply legislative and regulatory guidance to federal financial policy development.
- Strong presentation skills, including creating briefing materials, point papers, and graphical reports.
- Capability to advise leadership on financial service delivery options.
- Experience addressing audit findings and internal control gaps using best practices.
- Knowledge of federal standards (FMFIA, FFMIA, FISMA, GAO guidance).
- Proficiency in SharePoint for application development and collaboration.
- Background in strategy, business development, or project management.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and team motivation skills.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, plus 4-8+ years of relevant experience. Must be a recognized expert in the field.
Minimum Experience: Six (6) years in management consulting or accounting, including:
• Conducting operational studies, analyzing data, and recommending program improvements.
• Applying qualitative/quantitative techniques to assess mission-critical processes.
• Leading management improvement initiatives, productivity enhancements, and long-range planning.
• Developing operational guidance, evaluating reorganizations, and creating procedural manuals.
