Remote VP of Engineering at Soda Data NV
Soda is seeking an experienced VP of Engineering to join our leadership team and drive our engineering efforts forward. Reporting directly to the CPO, you will collaborate closely with the product team to accelerate the delivery of cutting-edge features in Data Observability and Data Testing.
As the VP of Engineering, your core responsibility will be to lead the engineering team, ensuring high velocity, alignment between architectural decisions and the product roadmap, and fostering operational excellence. You will actively participate in resolving critical engineering challenges, dedicating at least 50% of your time to hands-on implementation. Your mission? To help us build an exceptional product.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the rapid delivery of product features by optimizing engineering workflows, best practices, and processes.
- Guide architectural decisions to ensure scalable and reliable product delivery for years to come.
- Hands-on involvement in solving critical engineering challenges, leading by example to establish technical credibility.
- Oversee hiring, define recruitment needs, and manage the engineering team.
- Cultivate a culture of ownership, proactivity, and product focus within the engineering team.
- Collaborate closely with the CPO and product team to align with the company’s vision and long-term growth strategy.
- Develop a deep understanding of the data quality space and the challenges our customers face.
- Build strong, effective relationships across engineering and the company to ensure transparent communication.
Technical Requirements:
- Deep expertise in modern architectural design principles, including service architectures and multi-tenanted SaaS product development.
- Experience in API integration, including seamless integration with legacy systems without performance bottlenecks.
- Proven track record in building scalable, robust B2B products.
- Strong appreciation for UX/UI, with a focus on creating intuitive and user-friendly products.
- Experience deploying ML systems into production.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Industry Experience:
- Technical leadership in building data-centric software, including modern data infrastructures like data orchestration and data warehouses.
- Experience developing products deployed internationally in venture-backed environments, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Leadership Skills:
- Proven experience leading highly technical engineering teams and executing technology roadmaps.
- Experience building, leading, and scaling engineering teams, including remote and distributed teams.
- Expertise in designing autonomous, feature-based engineering teams with DevOps integration.
- Product engineering mindset with a history of successful collaboration with product managers, researchers, and designers.
- Strong experience in implementing engineering processes and fostering people development within the engineering function.
- Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical vision and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience contributing to and executing technical and engineering strategies at both product and organizational levels.
- Strategic mindset, capable of aligning short-, medium-, and long-term business goals.
- Experience working with founders to deliver on product vision.
