Title: Lead Software Engineer
Your Role:
As a Lead Software Engineer at LawnStarter, you'll report to an Engineering Manager and spearhead technical initiatives from concept to delivery. You'll drive continuous improvement, ensuring every decision maximizes ROI in our product development process.
This hands-on role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the LawnStarter platform. You'll architect solutions, write high-quality code, lead by example, and tackle technical challenges to elevate user experiences. You'll dive into various areas of the codebase, including JavaScript, PHP, Terraform, and other backend/operations technologies.
Your ability to deliver quality software efficiently will directly impact the success of the initiatives you lead. You'll also:
- Drive the development of the LawnStarter platform, leveraging the best techniques, architectural patterns, frameworks, and libraries.
- Own and resolve complex system and integration issues.
- Share knowledge and lessons learned across teams.
- Delegate effectively and support teammates to ensure their success.
- Identify and prioritize technical debt reduction opportunities with engineering and product management.
- Implement thorough automated testing across all levels of the test pyramid.
- Communicate solutions through detailed documentation and technical presentations.
Requirements
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking an experienced full-stack engineer with:
- Proven experience in both server- and client-side web software. Familiarity with cloud development, Test Driven Development (TDD), RESTful APIs, React, XSS attacks, and MVC web frameworks is essential.
- A solid understanding of fundamental computer science concepts, such as pointers, Big O notation, composition vs. inheritance, and data structures like arrays, linked lists, and sets.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and databases (relational and non-relational), including CRUD operations, indexes, and join types.
