Our multi-cloud platform offers real-time insights, exceptional scalability, and the choice of shared or dedicated processing. It’s our worldwide footprint and innovative approach that make us unique.

We are seeking a Head of Platform Engineering to spearhead our global platform team, shaping the strategy, architecture, and operations of the foundational systems and networks that support our products. This senior leadership position is essential for maintaining Paymentology’s secure, reliable, and innovative growth.

If you possess extensive platform engineering experience, a history of scaling cloud-native environments, and the ability to motivate top-tier teams, join us in shaping the future of payments with Paymentology!

Your responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:
  • Develop and implement the long-term vision and roadmap for platform, networking, and site reliability engineering.
  • Recruit, lead, and mentor globally distributed platform engineering teams.
  • Foster a DevOps culture emphasizing ownership, automation, and ongoing enhancement.

Platform Engineering & Cloud Operations
  • Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS & GCP), Kubernetes ecosystems, and worldwide networking.
  • Promote automation-first methodologies, such as infrastructure-as-code, GitOps, and immutable deployments.
  • Define and track SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs to guarantee system reliability and performance.
  • Oversee incident response, blameless postmortems, and resilience engineering efforts.
  • Handle FinOps and cloud operations, ensuring platforms are cost-effective, appropriately scaled, and financially responsible.
  • Work with Finance and Product teams to predict cloud expenses and enhance resource utilization.

CI/CD & Developer Experience
  • Manage the complete CI/CD environment, enabling teams to deploy safely, swiftly, and dependably.
  • Deliver self-service pipelines, automated testing, and deployment tools.
  • Integrate security and compliance validations directly into CI/CD workflows.
  • Advocate for a streamlined developer experience that minimizes obstacles and speeds up delivery.

Security & Compliance
  • Collaborate with Security Engineering to implement zero-trust frameworks, modern IAM, and end-to-end TLS.
  • Promote the use of automated secrets management and certificate lifecycle processes.
  • Ensure all platform services and pipelines adhere to PCI DSS, GDPR, and regional regulations.

Networking & Connectivity (Mission-Critical)
  • Direct Paymentology’s global networking approach, guaranteeing secure, resilient, low-latency connections.
  • Integrate automation and observability into networking to enable proactive issue detection and swift resolution.

Collaboration & Influence
  • Partner with product and business executives to forecast scaling requirements and shape technology strategy.
  • Act as the platform function’s representative with external partners, regulators, and clients.

Qualifications for success:
  • At least 10 years of demonstrated leadership in platform, SRE, or DevOps within high-stakes, scalable settings
  • Expert knowledge of cloud-native frameworks (AWS, GCP), Kubernetes, CI/CD, networking, and distributed systems
  • Proven success in advancing automation through infrastructure-as-code, GitOps, and observability tools
  • Robust SRE orientation, with practical use of SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and resilience engineering
  • Security-focused mindset, experienced in integrating compliance into automated pipelines
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, with a background in forming high-achieving, distributed engineering teams, ideally in global or remote settings
  • Familiarity with payments is beneficial but not required – experience with mission-critical, 24/7 systems is paramount
