Position: Social Media Video Content Creator at Canonical

Canonical is seeking a dynamic and innovative video content creator to enhance our social media presence and develop our video strategy.

Our social media channels create a vital link between the developers of our products and the users who enjoy them. With a vast audience, we leverage our online communities to engage, receive feedback and involve them in the Ubuntu ecosystem. From discussions on #opensource to showcasing K8s coffee moments, the marketing team's mission is to foster dialogues with developers, tech enthusiasts, and security engineers worldwide.

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our video initiatives, contributing to a brand that is deeply integrated into the latest technological advancements. Your success will be evaluated based on audience growth, engagement statistics, and your ability to collaborate effectively with the team.

The perfect candidate will be enthusiastic about technology, experienced in tech marketing, and keen to apply technological tools creatively. Location:This position is based in the EMEA region and reports to the director of communications within the communications team.

Your Daily Responsibilities

Develop engaging storylines for videos, guiding them from concept to completion.
Cultivate a vibrant community and strengthen our brand through original video content.
Collaborate with team members to brainstorm fresh video ideas for marketing and communications campaigns.
Continuously refine and elevate our video content, balancing creativity with performance metrics.
Support the creation of a scalable video content program by researching innovative tools and executing proofs of concept.
Produce captivating reels and videos for social media that resonate with our audience and align with our brand identity.
Edit videos to suit social media formats, showcasing the unique personality of our brand.
Apply social media and SEO optimization best practices to all video content.
Oversee proper video lifecycle management techniques.
Engage in video and photo shoots, contributing ideas for storyboards and scripts.

Desired Qualifications

A strong portfolio reflecting your video editing expertise and social media proficiency.
Experience with video editing tools.
A good grasp of social media and communication practices.
Solid knowledge of at least four social media platforms, including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Familiarity with web analytics tools like Google Analytics is advantageous.
A keen understanding of branding and conceptualization.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust within diverse teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
A proven track record of prioritizing tasks effectively while adhering to deadlines without compromising quality.
Strong planning skills, with experience using project management tools such as Jira being a plus.
Availability to travel up to four times annually for internal events.
