Remote Entry Level UX Design Apprenticeship at Ideate Labs

Program Overview:

Annually, Ideate Labs invites 2 aspiring UX professionals to join our immersive 4-Month Live UX cohort, held during the fall and spring terms. Our UX apprentices engage with a startup concept of their choosing, gaining hands-on experience through the complete UX design and research process, which will enhance their appeal to potential employers in relevant fields.

Participants in this program enjoy complimentary enrollment and benefit from personalized mentorship throughout the duration. Furthermore, they receive individualized career coaching focused on UX for up to 3 months post-program completion. Graduates of the UX apprenticeship often find roles in UX design, product design, UX research, or service design, earning between $85,000 and $150,000 annually.

Eligibility Criteria for Apprenticeship:

This apprenticeship opportunity is available for both recent graduates and individuals transitioning into UX careers. Please consider the following requirements before submitting your application:

• Interest in career opportunities within UX research, UX design, product design, or service design
• Available to dedicate 5-10 hours weekly to fulfill program projects
• Available to participate in 2-3 hour weekend lectures focused on the comprehensive design process
• Receptive to feedback from UX mentors and motivated to refine design projects

Learning Objectives of the Apprenticeship:

• Develop digital products and services from concept to launch
• Oversee the complete design process for a chosen startup idea or focus area
• Manage product and feature scoping in addition to comprehensive project management
• Identify target demographics for products and strategize for a successful launch
• Create a scalable business model for the product or service
• Conduct discovery research by managing user recruitment, drafting research plans, formulating interview guides, conducting 8-16 interviews, and synthesizing findings
• Present a persuasive UX design and business pitch for your startup proposition, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative evidence
• Weave together a compelling narrative about users using user types, personas, stakeholder maps, journey maps, process maps, service blueprints, ideation matrixes, sketches, wireframes, UX workflows, prototypes, and other visual artifacts
• Facilitate user testing of wireframes and prototypes, enhancing product/service usability through continuous iteration
• Craft a unique design system for your solution, including the creation of components, a style guide, and branding
• Evaluate both direct and indirect competitors to underline your solution’s unique advantages and its innovative potential
