We are on the lookout for a talented and adaptable Accountant and Controller to oversee the financial and business control functions for our three companies located in Switzerland, Germany, and the UAE. This is a completely remote role aimed at a seasoned professional with a solid background in international finance, accounting, and control.
As a vital part of our team, you will be responsible for accounting, ensuring adherence to local regulations, managing financial reporting, streamlining business processes, and offering strategic insights to aid decision-making.
Main Responsibilities
Accounting & Compliance Management (40%):
- Generate precise financial statements and reports aligning with IFRS.
- Guarantee compliance with local and international tax laws and manage filings for entities in Switzerland, Germany, and the UAE.
- Supervise regulatory, tax, trade, and banking compliance across different jurisdictions.
- Facilitate internal and external audits while maintaining relations with financial authorities.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, conduct reconciliations, and manage payments.
Business Control & Process Improvement (30%):
- Examine costs and profitability by customer and product.
- Monitor cash flow and enhance it to boost financial efficiency.
- Discover and apply cost-reduction strategies.
- Assist in calculating investment needs and tender bids.
- Provide prompt and precise management reports to help in decision-making.
Systems & Process Enhancement (20%):
- Create and apply accounting and compliance systems suited to each jurisdiction.
- Establish procedures to ensure effective coordination between in-house bookkeepers and external accountants.
- Revamp and improve financial workflows and information flow across departments.
Consultation & Communication (10%):
- Act as the primary contact for all financial matters for every entity.
- Work collaboratively with various teams across different time zones and cultural backgrounds.
- Maintain a professional dialogue with clients, authorities, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a comparable role; 5+ years preferred.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and local compliance regulations in Switzerland, Germany, and UAE.
- Expertise in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and Excel.
- Strong analytical abilities with an emphasis on detail and accuracy.
- Background in designing and establishing structured systems.
- Familiarity with the European VAT framework.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English; fluency in German and Arabic is a considerable advantage.
- Mindset: Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and an effective communicator.
- Technical Requirements: Stable internet connection and a distraction-free working environment for remote work.
