  • Optimize designs for draft angles, wall thickness, and mounting features.
  • Seamlessly integrate models with chassis, subframes, and adjacent systems.
Thermoforming Expertise
  • Design large thermoformed components including wheel arches, cladding, and interior panels.
  • Collaborate with tooling vendors to refine mold accuracy, vacuum paths, and cycle efficiency.
  • Apply mold flow principles to ensure dimensional stability post-forming.
Surface Data Management
  • Assess and repair imported surface models (STEP, IGES) from external sources.
  • Reconstruct incomplete or low-quality data to meet automotive-grade standards.
  • Maintain surface continuity for premium finishes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with industrial designers and supply chain teams to deliver cohesive vehicle solutions.
  • Support prototype builds, form trials, and production launches.
  • Generate and approve detailed drawings, BOMs, and GD&T documentation.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing commercial or automotive body components.
  • Advanced SolidWorks surface modeling skills.
  • Proven expertise in thermoformed part design for transportation.
  • Ability to repair and optimize complex CAD data.
  • Knowledge of automotive assembly techniques, fasteners, and coatings.
  • Familiarity with FMVSS and ADA regulations is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with bus, truck, or van body components.
  • Understanding of ABS, TPO, and other thermoformable plastics.
  • Knowledge of structural reinforcement methods (bonded inserts, subframe interfaces).
  • Exposure to ERP-linked BOM and PLM systems.
Soft Skills:
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on aesthetics and functionality.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
